04 September 2010, Saturday - ZIPLINE

Up early for a day of adventure.  Cheesy eggs and fruit for breakfast.
Unfortunately my camera battery died after the above two pictures, so we made a side trip to Best Buy for a new one.  Note to self: make sure camera is charged up next time.
Earthshine Zipline Staff

We went to a place called Earthshine Lodge to ride zip lines. There were about 10 people of all ages in our group.  The staff was really friendly, and the runs between tree houses were definitely fun!

The last line was particularly fast and took you out over water with a quick hard stop into a cargo net.
The site itself has some wonderful views.  There isn't any tent camping available but the lodge looked comfy.  Chris and I may decide to stay there some time in the future.

On the way back to camp, Chris decided to look for a local waterfall using her DROiD cell phone.  Amazingly useful little device that thing is.  She picked Gorges State Park, and after some squirreling around, we found the trail head and started down.  We turned back after half a mile though.  We both figured it would be better to start fresh in the morning.

Campfire tonight, another Chris first.

She made dinner and later we made S'mores.

We had a lot of new neighbors, so it wasn't as secluded as it was the previous night.   Not bad though.  The sound of the little river near us was nice.  Unfortunately there was a road across from that.  Traffic died down eventually though so even that was tolerable.

Note from Chris:  Even though Tim made fun of my compasswhistleometer, he used it in the AM to determine that it was 56 degrees out - go, me...

Side note from the morning:  When we went to bed it was just a little too warm to be comfortable.  About 2:00 though, the temperature really dropped off, and it was 56 degrees in the morning.  A bit chilly, but it made for a pleasant day.
